HeadSense Medical is developing a noninvasive intracranial pressure (ICP) monitor to help treat patients with severe traumatic brain injury (TBI), stroke, and brain tumors.
The HeadSense ICP monitor contains a disposable unit similar to a headset which allows continuous ICP monitoring. The device emits an acoustic signal which is transmitted into the ear and through the skull, then picked up in the other ear by a sensor. The signal is analyzed using a proprietary signal-processing algorithm that provides the ICP levels in mmHg. Data analysis and display can be performed on a tablet or smartphone.
